The small quantities shall be stored in safety cans or in non-glass containers of a capacity equal to or less than a safety can. (2) The mine operator must certify on the application that the operator has posted one copy of the application at the mine site for at least 30 days prior to the date of application, and has provided another copy to the authorized representative of miners. These records shall include the individual's time in each active working area and the concentrations of airborne radon daughters for each active working area. 1291 (30 U.S.C. General requirements for boilers and pressure vessels. Explosives, blasting agents, and detonators. Before loading, blastholes shall be checked and, wherever possible, cleared of obstructions. Certifications shall be retained for at least one year and made available to authorized representatives of the Secretary. (2) Alarms shall be audible above the surrounding noise level. Valves on compressed gas cylinders shall be protected by covers when being transported or stored, and by a safe location when the cylinders are in use. (b) When the entire length of the conveyor is not visible from the starting switch, a system which provides visible or audible warning shall be installed and operated to warn persons that the conveyor will be started. Frame grounding or equivalent protection shall be provided for mobile equipment powered through trailing cables. (b) To prevent injury from wheel rims during tire inflation, one of the following shall be used: (1) A wheel cage or other restraining device that will constrain all wheel rim components during an explosive separation of a multi-piece wheel rim, or during the sudden release of contained air in a single piece rim wheel; or. 57.19006 Automatic hoist braking devices. The constant speed shall be maintained up to the point when the equipment operator receives the signal to apply the brakes. Blast site means the area where explosive material is handled during loading, including the perimeter formed by the loaded blastholes and 50 feet (15.2 meters) in all directions from loaded holes. Persons shall stay clear of suspended loads. (c) Berms may have openings to the extent necessary for roadway drainage. Transformer stations shall be enclosed to prevent persons from unintentionally or inadvertently contacting energized parts. (b) If a total failure of ventilation occurs while all persons are out of the mine and the failure lasts for more than 30 minutes, only competent persons shall be allowed underground to examine the mine or to make necessary ventilation changes. Surface buildings or other similar structures within 100 feet of mine openings used for intake air or within 100 feet of mine openings that are designated escapeways in exhaust air shall be, (a) Constructed of noncombustible materials; or, (b) Constructed to meet a fire resistance rating of no less than one hour; or, (c) Provided with an automatic fire suppression system; or. (4) Category IV applies to mines in which noncombustible ore is extracted and which liberate a concentration of methane that is not explosive nor capable of forming explosive mixtures with air based on the history of the mine or the geological area in which the mine is located. Electrical conductors shall be of a sufficient size and current-carrying capacity to ensure that a rise in temperature resulting from normal operations will not damage the insulating materials. (b) Primers shall be prepared with the detonator contained securely and completely within the explosive or contained securely and appropriately for its design in the tunnel or cap well.
